My dearest dear has been in Australia for quite a few days already.. Just received an email from her today, and I'm glad everything is getting along fine for her! Today is the 9th day of lunar new year already, and I'm sorry that it took me so long to blog about my new year celebrations. My laptop is getting a little cranky again, and I have problems blogging, so I'm currently blogging at the office (in other words, skiving.) I must say, it's been quite a hectic week last week, because there're just so many things to do. Before new year starts, I have to clear some work and order hampers before we send them over to our clients.. Just that alone is enough to give me a headache, because we don't want to give something that's too simple and cheap, lest we offend our customers.. I had another problem, and that is the insect bites on my legs.. Quite upset about it, because even after the swell went down the bites still left bruise-like marks on my legs.. So I had to end up wearing black pants with my new top for new year, instead of wearing a short black skirt.. My kor kor called me ah soh because of that.. =(
Back to new year eve.. Xueli booked out on that fateful day.. So we met up and shopped around at Bugis and Suntec. He's less pretty now that he's botak.. Hahahaha.. I'll post a picture in the next entry to show you people how he looks now.. Haha.. Well actually I have a lot more photos to post once my broadband is here.. Muahahaha. Anyway, I guess most families probably held the reunion dinner on that day. Same for my family. It was quite a big gathering, my family and our relatives went to this uncle's place at Fajar (all the way at the place where you take that LRT.. Bukit Panjang or Choa Chu Kang, cannot remember) for our reunion dinner. This year's reunion dinner is slighty different from how we normally celebrate it.. Usually, we would go to our grandma's place (at bedok. see the difference in distance??) for the dinner, and my aunt would do the cooking. This year, we had catered food.. Kind of like buffet. But not very sumptuous, except for the beehoon and the curry. We had a bit of red wine, and the adults started talking about my jie jie's wedding. Hoho. So exciting. Even the adults were so enthusiastic about it, because they haven't had such grand celebrations (as in weddings) for a long long time.. After getting a little bored of all the talking, my jie jie and I slipped out to play with the younger kids. Sparklers!!! (or fireworks, whatever you people call it) Hoho I haven't had that for a eons! We played like we've never played before.. And we pulled poppers too. It was a great time, except that the sparklers run out very fast. And darn it, my younger cousins pulled the poppers, and all the streamers were heaped on me!! You know, kids, they play and leave just like that, and I end up having to clear the rubbish with my jie jie..
The night ended, and my family went to Chinatown to shop for some new year goodies. I really regret it, because it was super crowded that we could hardly move! So stuffy that I could hardly breathe.. Gosh. Then we went to watch midnight movie at Eng Wah Cinema.. I do I do. Crappy show la. Just that some parts are funny, so that kept us awake through the night.
CNY Day 1: Gong xi gong xi, time to take angbaos! I thought it would be another boring CNY, but no, it turned out to be slightly better because we didn't go to that Chun Dao He Pan. I hate that place, because we go there every year, and worse is, it rained last year while we were there. Totally shun the place now. I never get much angbaos because I only have my mum's side here, and my dad's side are all in Indonesia. Oh well. And I've got this bunch of cousins that I don't really like and I have to meet them every new year and they'll always ask the same questions : Are you studying/working now? Studying what/working as what? Are you attached? You look slimmer le hor? So what are you planning to do now? ... Always these questions, without fail. CNYs are always a lot more boring and uninteresting with them around. This year, my jie jie help me put on make-up (though I hate putting on make-up), I feel so loved! Muahaha. I've always wished for an elder sibling to play with me and all that. Lol. Ok. Kind of got my wish this new year. Anyway, this year, my family and some of our relatives went out after bai nian-ing.. Had lunch at airport mac, went back to my place for a short rest, followed by dinner at Simpang Bedok's malay stalls. The food sucks, but I don't mind because we rarely get to meet up and eat together, and it was a really wonderful time! From spending time with them, I realised that actually my kor kor is quite a caring person, though I must insist that he does bully me quite a lot. He feels like an older brother too, taking care of us younger ones while we're out, helping us get food when we cannot reach, helping me take some of my favourite dish for me, stopping me from taking pineapple and cold stuff because he knows my stomach not feeling good.. Hehe. I finally feel abit more family warmth though he's just my cousin. So everyone's blessings have come true, it's a really Happy New Year!
CNY Day 2: Ok, I'll cut things short. Some of my relatives came over again, and we went to play basketball (ball proudly brought to us by my cousin Hiroshi. Some details about him: tall, handsome, very cute, quiet, super polite. 2 years younger than me. He's really good at basketball!! My idol. Haha..) at the court near my house. In the afternoon I went to Wilson's house to bai nian.. A bit paiseh.. I didn't know what to say to his parents, we all end up watching Fei Yu Qing's show.. Haha. I went back home, then went out for dinner at Chin Lee Restaurant with my family and relatives. The Yu Sang sucks la. The food was not really up to standard that night. So disappointing..
CNY Day 3: Met up with Daniel, MC, YX, CS & Cliffton in school to visit the teachers. Talked a lot, and a lot, and a lot. The school looks the same, but the system changed a lot. Now, the students get to choose their own subject combis, as in any combination!! And they get to plan their own timetable, just like in the university. Sigh. Lucky people. We went to MC's house to bai nian after that.. Paiseh again.. We didn't know that her mum would give angbao.. We thought we're just going there to sit and chat.. Oh well. Next time we'll remember to bring mandarin oranges. After that, we went on separate ways.. Daniel had the honour of buying Dearest Dear's farewell cum birthday present, Cliffty went to meet Winnie and Jeffrey, CS went to meet his friend at suntec, YX stayed on at MC's house, and I went to meet Wilson for lunch. Then go home.. Cannot really remember what happened on Friday.. Haha.
CNY Day 4: My mum's birthday! My dad bought her a necklace with a pendant.. From SK Jewellery. And I bought the puzzle (the guy from Jigsaw Puzzle World called me on that day to tell me there's finally new stock) I've always longed for -- Heyes' Orchestra! Hehe.. Well Huijun if you're reading my blog, you would probably know that you should quickly go get it before it's out of stock again..
CNY Day 5: Church in the morning, then met up with Dearest Dear and Clare in the afternoon. Just a short meeting, like the last outing with Dearest Dear before she left for Aust.. Dinner with my family and some relatives in the evening.. My dad did the cooking personally! So yup, great feast, not forgetting the red wine that made many of us look like we poured rouge on our faces.
CNY Day 6 (V Day as well): No work that day, because my dad says no work. Hehe. What fun to work for my dad. Plenty of leaves to take. Woohoo. I spent my afternoon doing the jigsaw, then went off to meet Daniel and together we went to give Chit Eng her present and send her off.. We celebrated her birthday (yeah, her birthday falls on V Day!) at Swensens, and took a few photos before she leaves to catch the plane.. After she left and everyone else left, waited for Wilson at the airport for dinner.. Having been to the airport for so many zillion times, I must conclude that the food is super ex (especially the one at the food court near the restaurants -- T2) and probably sucks too.. Anyway, Happy V Day.. Hehe..
CNY Day 7: That is called Ren Ri, but I had to start work.. =( I had piano lesson, and I after 2 lessons I still suck in harmonising melodies. Qi si wo le. At the rate I'm progressing, I'll end up having an elongated course instead of crash course. What to do, I don't have any talent in music. Argh. I must buck up!!
CNY Day 8: -- which is also yesterday.. Work work work work. I sent Dearest Dear an email..
Today: Work work work work.. Gotta pee. Take care guys.. Happy 9th day of lunar new year..
Big bad bug bites.. Actually I don't know if the bug is big or not.. But it's really super evil lor.. The bites are really big.. Very ugly.. And when the swell goes down it leaves a bruise-like mark.. Sigh. How to wear skirt on new year's day!! Sobs.. Worse, I've never seen the thing that bit me. Or maybe they ain't even bites. Oh gosh. They itch like hell.. *Groans*
Chinese New Year's coming.. Been busy at work and preparing for CNY! So don't expect me to blog much.. My posts quite boring anyway.. Well, wish you guys a wonderful and prosperous new year.. Get lotsa angbaos!!
